Stemcell Technologies Inc. began to provide contract assay and research services in 1999 as a result of requests from Stemcell Technologies’ customers who were familiar with the quality provided by StemCell's specialized media and cell separation products. Members of StemCell’s team, with expertise in hematopoiesis and stem cell biology, performed specialized cell assays for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, research communities and hospitals. Demand for these services increased, and in 2003, the Stemcell Technologies Contract Assay Services Department was formed.
