Why Examine Bone Marrow Toxicity?
Bone marrow is one of the most common dose-limiting tissues for xenobiotics.
The rapid turnover of hematopoiteic cells in bone marrow is required for continuous blood cell production and maturation. This remarkable characteristic also makes the hematopoietic system vulnerable to xenobiotic toxic insult that can inhibit the proliferative and, or functional properties of any or all blood cell lineages.
