Drug, Peptide and Xenobiotic Testing
In vitro testing services and assays
We can perform colony-forming cell (CFC) assays to gain information of the action of compounds before in vivo studies or clinical trials that include small molecule mimics, chemotherapeutic agents, drug delivery compounds, pesticides, anti-virals, anti-inflammatories, enviornmental toxins and herbal medications. These assays can be performed using human and, or mouse 'primary' cells to highlight potential differences and improve dosage strategies.
Using standard culture conditions we can determine if your compound has toxic effects on bone marrow stem cells and determine if these effects are lineage specific or species specific. We can also compare your compound to similar market compounds.
By adjusting the cytokine formulations in the culture conditions we can look for stimulatory or inhibitory action of your compound on progenitor cell growth or evaluate potential synergy between multiple compounds.
We also provide analysis of your compound(s) or drug(s) effect on long term culture-initiating cell (LTC-IC) assays. The unique features of the long-term culture system have allowed the development of the LTC-IC assay to detect and quantitate primitive hematopoietic cells which share phenotypic and functional properties with murine and human in vivo repopulating cells.
In vivo testing services and studies
Hemato and Immuno testing can be performed in a mouse study to test toxic or stimulatory effects of your compound in vivo, or to detect stem cell mobilizing or engrafting capabilities.
All elements of an in vivo study can be performed including:
- administration of the compound
- complete peripheral blood cell counts
- gross analysis
- total bone marrow cell counts
- cell assessment via FACS
- bone marrow and peripheral blood CFC assessment
- serum cytokine/immunoglobulin concentration determination via ELISA.
